Jackson Sundown, or wana’tón’cickanin’, was from the Wal’waáma Band of the nimîipuu nation and was the nephew of Chief Joseph. In 1916, at the age of 53, he became the world champion Bronc rider at the Pendleton Round Up in Pendleton, Oregon.
